Success Is an On going Process.

Aphiwe Magida the founder of “Back To School” is a second year student at CPUT, doing a teaching course under Natural Sciences and IsiXhosa studies. He is a event organizer of Buya Mbo Art Society at CPUT Mowbray Campus. Aphiwe Magida prefers to describe himself as a writer, fore the are many writing fields that he majors in; Poetry, Script writing, Short Stories, Novels and also essays. He loves performing live and he is a Xhosa fanatic. His short stories and poems has been published at “Intinga Journal” 2013 NMMU when he was still living in his birth place Port Elizabeth. Aphiwe Magida is under the mentorship of CYPHER, a NGO program that is located at the CBD Cape Town, it holds its workshops at the Central Library. Under the mentorship of CYPHER Aphiwe Magida had a chance to perform for Naked Word festival 2017 CYPHER production, Open Book Festival under Imbewu Book Club a poetry group that was created by CYPHER members on 2017. On 2018 around April Aphiwe Magida won second position at Kraaifontein Art Competition, Aphiwe magida lost at the Hectic Nine 9 Shine Shine art competition that was broadcast on SABC 2 But made his return and won first position at Naked Word Festival Poetry Slam the same year on June. On November 2018 Aphiwe created his first ever event “Silent Voices” that aimed on voicing out artist’s grievance through art, the was dance, music, poetry and drama. In which Buya Mbo art Society and other local artists like Saba Nguqu helped to make the event a success by contributed to the planning of the event and also performing on the day of the event. Aphiwe Magida is now busy with his second year studies under teaching course and His monthly “Back To School” programs. He wishes to build a library that will have books that are written by African writers about Africa in the townships one day with wood and zinc, the library according to Aphiwe must have a studying room and theater. And also tutors that will volunteer to teach High School kids Math, Sciences, Economics, Geography, History etc.

This is the picture of Aphiwe Magida, who is the founder of Back 2 School. He is holding his ear, staring into space, he has red towel on his shoulder which is a sign of respect to most African cultures. A man when he is about to address a crowd in Xhosa traditions he must have a towel on his shoulder.
